School Closure and
Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of inclement
weather, school may be closed or delayed. Listen to
local radio stations KUGN (590AM), KPNW (1120AM), KMTR
TV (channel 16), KEZI TV (channel 9), and KVAL TV
(channel 13). At any time you personally feel the road
conditions are not safe for either yourself or your
child, please stay home and notify the school before
8:15 AM. Media announcements will be made after 6:00
AM. You may also call the school at 689-5847 for an
inclement weather message on the answering machine.
ILLNESS POLICY:
Flu
and cold season is here. Unfortunately that means a lot of
illness, stress and, frustration for students parents and staff.
Please take the time to review our policies in regards to
illness.
KEEP YOUR STUDENTS HOME:
If your student is vomiting, has a cough,
sore through, runny or stuffy nose, diarrhea, body aches, a
strong headache, a fever, or has had a fever in the last 24
hours, your student is sick. They need to be kept home under
these situations. Please do not send your student to school if
they are sick.
SICK STUDENTS WILL BE SENT HOME;
School districts have been advised that the
best way to stop the spread of illness is to separate sick and
healthy students.
If your student comes to school and is
exhibiting these symptoms they will be sent home. You will be
required to pick up your student from the office.
We understand that keeping a student home
can be an inconvenience to everyone, and that some students feel
that they can make it through the day even if they are ill, but
please remember two things. First, the best way to get over an
illness is rest. Students who come to school sick are almost
always sick for much longer than those who stay home and allow
their bodies to fight off illness. Second, it is unfair to
healthy students and staff when sick students (or staff) come to
school and spread their illness. Every illness is different and
students may be contagious when any of the above symptoms are
present. We have a small school and illness spreads quickly,
please don’t share your sickness. Thank you for keeping us all healthy.
